Love has the competence to absorb instructions. The pressure of burden eases when the ‘shoulder’ gets oiled with the ever greasy love. In its absence, not only does the law become unbearable; it also pinches the conscience hard, thereby disrupting freedom of thought. As lighter objects float unless they soak up water, so do instructions until they get soaked with love that is “poured out…into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Ro 5:5). God’s Word becomes weighty & effective when it blends with faith. Otherwise it will remain movable by anything from suspicion to Satan. Like a good delivery at the door, take time & effort to get it inside. Equip your soul with the meditation of the Word.
