The Passover in Egypt occurred with a year old lamb slaughtered & its blood sprinkled over the door posts & doorframe at every household. Abraham's children had to obey God with the urgency & criticality of the instruction: "When I see the blood I will pass over you" (Ex 12:13). They listened; so they escaped death & marched on without a loss. Later in the wilderness they were given a lifetime instruction: "The LORD our God...is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." And they were told to "write them on the doorframes of [their] houses" (Dt 6:4-9). Deliverance is fulfilled in a loving relationship.
