“Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

People fall at the Lord’s feet either under the deepest sense of His glory or under the crushing weight of problems. Either way the action is met with compassion. The synagogue ruler, Jarius, “fell at his feet” and begged, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her” (Mk 5:22-23). “Jesus went with him,” but not hurriedly as He allowed another emergency case to delay time. And the situation of the girl changed from “dying” to “dead.” “Why bother the teacher any more?” was the verdict of the messengers. “Ignoring what they said” Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Things could fall apart along time. But faith matures with severity.
