The three major religions on the globe (only one makes it beyond) trace their roots in Abraham. Combined they boast more than 3.8 billion adherents. But each stands for its own with highly marked differences. Even Jesus and the Jews had a sharp difference over the issue. When they took great pride in their sonship, He countered it on account of fruit: “If you were Abraham’s children, then you would do what Abraham did” (Jn 8:39). Abraham’s call had the purpose of making a nation that believes & walks in faith. The claimant, whoever he is, should prove it with the purity of faith & nobility of works.
