"The Lord is good..."

If we agree on the definition of goodness as something that is "pleasing, valuable or useful," we can conclude that life runs on its deficiency. Not many things have wedded value & joy in themselves. There is usefulness in some things, but they don't always engage emotion pleasingly. Other things on the contrary are pleasing, but add no lasting value to a meaningful life. The word "good" is pretty much underrated in our greetings then. Its never-ceasing presence in God should however be the reason for optimism: "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him," declares Nahum (1:7). In Him, both joy & value run over. NA, in Christ.
