One of the boys was on my lap. The flue he harbored had the better of his temperament. And he was trying to grab everything around matching his 9-month-old curiosity. All of a sudden he lost his temper and gave me a whack on my face. The result: soft pain & visible scratch. If one holds a grudge for such a premature frustration, the world around will puzzle at the ‘victim’s’ immature affection & judgment. Looking at it in the mirror, I asked: “How many times have I scratched you Lord?” Countless! We are not however pushed off His lap for the unruly recklessness & frustrations. Those big & deep ‘scratches’ on “his hands and side” (Jn 20:20) on the Cross are the limits. NA, in Christ
