Nothing equals the sense of insecurity in an apparently inescapable peril. It is like embracing for a stormy rain in a roofless shelter. King Hezekiah shook to his core at the words of the Assyrian king: “How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?” (2 Ki 18:35). He was too daring as he subdued other nations & their gods. Hezekiah “tore his clothes” in utter misery & spread the letter before God. He prayed: “Deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.” Heaven took on the battle; an angel killed 185,000 men “in the Assyrian camp.” When God is drawn to troubles, the roofs aren’t gone, but raised high. NA, in Christ.
